Have you ever sunk inside yourself to a place of darkness so deep you couldn’t see the light? Had no hope? Felt completely alone in a world filled with so many people?
I have. I’ve lived it, breathed it.
Why?
Because life hated me.
It disliked me from the moment of conception, despised me when I was born, loathed me when I bounced from each foster home, and kicked me in the gut when I watched the one thing that meant everything to me leave.
For years, I drifted, unable to find my footing, never knowing what the word stable meant. Then a single moment in time rocked me to my core, changing me and making that solid ground I so desperately craved crumble at my feet, causing me to fall farther than I’d ever imagined.
The darkness of the swirling tornado that is depression captured me, pulling me down to its depths, drowning me, suffocating me, owning me.
A depth so deep, I didn’t think I’d survive and didn’t care if I did. I only wanted peace. I wanted the pain to disappear. I wanted to be … free.
Needing to fall into the cyclone of darkness was the only way I could find the light.
**Warning: This book covers many tough issues—including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and abuse. It is a very highly charged, emotional read. You have been warned.**
My Review
Wow... what a book !!! I am seriously left Speechless, Absolutely Blown away !!!
This is the first Ryan Michele book I have read... but Oh Boy, I have so been missing out on this authors amazing words
I MUST go and check out this authors other books :)
Needing to Fall is the type of book that rips your heart out over and over again, then gives you it back feeling battered and bruised... but its so worth it
Needing to Fall is a Soul Shattering, Heart Breaking, Breathtakingly Beautiful Journey
NTF is Reign's story... Reign is broken, totally. She watched the one person she has ever loved murdered...
At the time Reign was in one of many foster homes, with the most evil man and women ever.. her only saving grace, was the boy she was put there with.. Drew
Due to the terrible way they are treated at this home, Reign and Drew became very close. It was getting so bad that they vowed to run away together, as soon as they possibly could... but they were to late
On a night like many, Mr Peterson came into Reign's room to abuse her.. but on this night Drew hears her screams and comes to her aid... During the altercation Mr Peterson pulls out a gun and shoots Drew.. killing him
After watching her soul mate brutally murdered.. Reign flees the Peterson home vowing never to return....
The book flashes to a few years later... and Reign is just existing, she has horrendous nightmares about that night, she keeps to herself and will not allow any human contact in any form... she kinda just locks herself away from the world
She is so broken and is so sad to see, the only reason she goes on living is because of her friend Andi... but she is barely hanging on to life
Reign then has a ghost return from her past.. and its too much for her to handle...
she wants to end it all
Andi has tried everything she can to help her broken friend.. so a ss a last resort, has Reign admitted to a hospital... against Reigns wishes
But she doesn't want to lose her friend
Reign has a really hard time in the hospital and has given up on life..
During one of many counselling sessions her doc introduces her to another patient in hopes that they can talk to each other and maybe help one another... as they are both broken
And that's when we meet Lynx <3 <3
Lynx was in the army.. and after going through a very traumatic experience and also getting wounded is sent home... permanently
On returning to normal life.. he finds it very difficult to get back into the regular lifestyle
He has PTSD... and has been in and out of the hospital due to a few severe attacks.. and is right back living in his nightmares
Lynx is put with Reign to talk through there problems and to share there broken parts and story's... its the last thing Lynx wants, he just wants to get his time over with and get out of the hospital so he can return home...
But the more he gets to know the sad, broken Reign... the more he feels connected to her
Lynx is a strong, Dominant, Ex-Army guy.. and Reign is a small, heart broken women that been through a lot... there total opposites, the only thing they have in common is there broken souls
Can the two of them fix each other broken souls.. or is there just to much darkness to find away to the light???
While reading this book I had few ideas as to which way the book would lead... but OMG I was so so wrong!!! I totally did not expect it to go the way it did...
I was so shocked.. the story lead where it did... but this is a great thing, as I hate books that are predictable .... Needing to Fall was so NOT predictable :)
Needing to Fall is HANDS DOWN the MOST Heartbreakingly Beautiful book I have read in a loooong time... and I have read lots
Wow.. Ryan sure knows how to break our hearts
I LOVED Reign's story.. it's one that I will remember for a long time, its the kind of book that stays with you long after you finish the last page.. it leaves a real impact on your head and your heart
I will never forget how amazing Reign's story is
Ryan has now become one of my top authors, just by reading this book alone...
WOW... I'M LEFT SPEACHLESS
Utterly Breathtakingly, Soul Shatteringly Beautiful... just Wow <3<3<3
