Mended Hearts #2
She's everything he detests about Hollywood.
After spending my entire acting career being cast as the airhead, I finally have the serious role I've been dying for, and I screw it all up during a four martini dinner with my ex. Now, thanks to the morality clause in my contract, I might lose the role of a lifetime. My only hope is to convince the media (and my eccentrically conservative director) that I've entered a committed relationship. But when I use my brother's costume party to launch Operation Fake Fiancé, I end up in front of the camera with the wrong guy, leaving my reputation—and the fate of my career—at his mercy. Any other guy I could sweet talk into playing the supporting role I need, but not Officer Cade Watts. Not the man who hates everything about me. Not the man who would most revel in seeing me fail.
He's everything she needs.
I don't care how good it felt to have her in my arms. I don't care that I can't close my eyes without remembering the way she tastes or the sound of her moan. I want nothing to do with Janelle Crane. Her scheme to fake an engagement to save her own career is exactly the kind of manipulative Hollywood crap I left LA to escape. But when her fan mail turns threatening and the tragedies befalling her former co-stars seem to be anything but coincidence, everything changes. Now I don't just want to play the part of Janelle's fake fiancé, I demand it. I won't let my jaded heart cost me another case. I may not trust Janelle but I do care, and the only way I know she's safe is if I'm holding her close.

My Review
I have read a few books by Lexi... so going into HHC I just knew I was going to love it
All of Lexi's books are brilliant reads and I was really excited to start this book
Holding Her Close is book 2 in the Mended Hearts Series
This is Janelle's book.... Janelle Crane is a upcoming Hollywood actress. She stared in a series as a teenager which was hugely successful, since then she has had only a few little roles here and there
Janelle has just signed up for a movie which will really launch her adult acting career, one of the rules of her contract is to have good public image
But then a mistake of a kiss with her ex-husband (that is now re-married) is caught by the paparazzi.... she is named as a home wrecker, even though he was her husband first
Now the movie role is in jeopardy... she must fix this mess asap, or she's out
With nothing to lose, Janelle hires a PR firm to handle the scandal.... there advice is, to pretend to be engaged and in love,, so it would look like the kiss was just a friendly one :/
Brilliant Plan.. Right???
Janelle is told she will meet the "fake fiancé" at her brothers costume party... he is masked and in costume..
Janelle ends up hooking up with the guy... only to find out the next morning once the mask is off... that she has made, yet another huge mistake !!!
That she has no idea how to fix
We also meet Cade... he is a local officer
He was once in love, or so he thought... Turns out the woman was only using him.. which in turn has broken his trust and faith in women
Since then Cade has sworn off relationships especially with actresses
The morning after a one night stand... all his nightmares come alive at once
And then he finds out history is repeating its self.... and he refuses to be a part in any of it...
That is until the problem becomes a matter of life and death... can he face his nightmares and learn to believe in women and love again???
Holding Her Close is so much more than a romance read.. we also get action, crime and some mystery solving
We also get the swoony romance, the diva actress and a hot alpha
I Read HHC in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down once I had started
I loved Cade from the beginning..
Janelle was a bit of a diva to start, but the more I read, the more I started to know and understand her... and then I really loved her
I was rooting for them to get together from the start <3
Yet another amazing book by the lovely Lexi Ryan
Gosh this girls books just keep getting better with each new release
A Awesome Thrilling Read <3
